ZIP! Training Tips
Using ZIP! Training Tips, the standard for all IMPACT workshops, means adding energy, excitement and enthusiasm to present successful training sessions. Workshop participants learn better when they are part of the action, and ZIP! makes training programs informative and enjoyable.
ZIP! tips maximize training potential by stimulating as many of the four adult learning styles as possible - visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and emotional.

VISUAL
Represents 50 to 75 percent of communication. Remember the old cliche, "a picture paints 1,000 words!" Visual aids are essential to training; they should be colorful, simple and alive!

AUDITORY
Represents about 30 percent of communication. You want your trainees to be active listeners, use music, different voice inflections, different trainers, but keep your audience listening!

KINESTHETIC
Communication is not just seeing and hearing -adults learn by DOING. Keep your trainees active; use physical movement activities, role play, use a beach ball for review games. Have fun!

EMOTIONAL
Emotional learners need to establish a personal connection with the new information. Have trainees identify with events and experiences. Appeal to their emotions to get them involved!

Here are some tips from ZIP! Training Tips:

Colors: Use them on hand-outs, overheads, workbooks. Black and white is boring!

Music: Use music to relax trainees during breaks and opening sessions.

Videos: Play videos that are germane to your training to diversify your programs.

Games: Use games to enhance learning. Have trainees create Jeopardy! or Trivial Pursuit questions about the topics covered. Then develop a game to reinforce your training session.

Beachballs: As an ice-breaker or a game, a beachball can help your trainees get out of their seats!

Stickers: Adults like rewards too! Create teams and have the members give stickers as prizes for good answers, questions and comments.

Toolboxes: Create a "learning toolbox" for trainee teams with pens, markers, post-it-notes, etc. During group activities, they can utilize the supplies in their toolbox.

There are many more! If you have a ZIP! Tip you've experienced or use in your own training, we'd love to hear about it. Send us an e-mail!
